Final Event Announced for West Hollywood Community Study

Community Meeting Will Take Place Thursday, March 14, 2013
West Hollywood, California - The West Hollywood Community Study will host the last public event in the survey process.  The Community Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Rooms 5 & 6 at the Plummer Park Community Center, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.

“We have so appreciated all the community members who have participated in the surveys, focus groups and pop up workshops,” said Ruth Cislowski, chair of the City’s Human Services Commission. “The Community Meeting is another opportunity for our community to share their thoughts about social services and how the City of West Hollywood should plan for the future.”

The Community Study will help update the City’s demographics, and also aid in the determination of funding priorities for social services. Feedback from residents is vital to this success of this project, and the West Hollywood Community Study is utilizing a variety of community participation elements to generate its findings – the randomly-mailed survey, the community-wide survey, focus groups, pop up workshops and this final community meeting.

Prior to the final Community Meeting, there are still opportunities to participate in the Community Study. Pop up workshops -- conducted at highly-trafficked locations throughout West Hollywood -- provide an opportunity for community members to indicate their preferences and priorities for social services, target populations and funding.

Below is the schedule for the pop up workshops:

·       Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the West Hollywood Library, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard

·       Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Sunset, 8580 Sunset Blvd.

·       Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the City parking lot at Sunset Boulevard and North Sherbourne Drive

·       Monday, March 11, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Plummer Park Community Center, Rooms 5 & 6 (7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.)

ASL interpretation is available at the pop up workshops with 72-hour notice.

Community members who did not receive the randomly-mailed survey can still complete the community-wide survey. There are two versions of the survey online – one for residents and one for non-residents who work in or frequently visit West Hollywood. Paper copies of the survey are available by calling the City’s Social Services Division. This survey must be returned by Monday, March 18. The community-wide survey is available online at www.weho.org/communitystudy
