April Cartoonist in Residence: Nigel Sussman

Cartoon Art Museum Event:  Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 12pm to 4pm

San Francisco, California - The Cartoon Art Museum hosts artist Nigel Sussman on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 12pm – 4pm, as part of its ongoing Cartoonist in Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk to Nigel and view his work.  This event is free and open to the public.

Nigel Sussman drove from Maryland to California to pursue an illustration BA from California College of the Arts.  His work is described as “intricate and whimsical” and reflects his love for food, animals, music, machines and urban environments.  His chosen mediums are Micron pens on paper or acrylic paints on canvas.

Nigel’s use of digital programs help him enhance and display his work on his website and other digital formats.  Through the use of digital programs, Nigel is able to expand his work from just sketches to becoming cloth prints, GIFs, CD covers, food packaging, phone covers and much more.  Through society6, Nigel Sussman sells his work by providing them with his creative designs and the online platform handles the rest. Nigel Sussman’s work has been exhibited throughout the city at events at Incline Gallery, 4N5, City Beer Store, and The Pour House.  Along with gallery settings, Nigel works as a commissioned muralist who has painted on walls for SayMedia, a downtown media firm and Google’s Mountain View offices.  Sussman’s designs are available in various products but still sticks to his preferred mediums of pen on paper and acrylic on canvas.  Nigel constantly updates his sketch blog and has nearly a thousand images posted.
